Heavy Rain and Hail Impact Several Areas in the UAE Amid Summer Heat
Parts of the UAE experienced heavy rain and hail despite soaring summer temperatures reaching up to 49°C.
On Saturday, August 8, several regions across the United Arab Emirates were affected by heavy rainfall and hailstorms, marking an unusual weather event during the summer season. The storm activity was reported in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, where residents witnessed sudden downpours amid high temperatures.
Despite daytime temperatures climbing to as high as 49°C in some locations, the weather included intense showers and hail. Forecasts indicated that Dubai's temperature would reach 45°C, while Abu Dhabi and Sharjah were expected to see highs of 46°C and 45°C, respectively.
Visual footage released by the Storm Centre captured hail falling in Margham, Dubai. The hailstones were seen descending and scattering on the ground, creating a striking visual contrast against the prevailing heat.
In the outskirts of Sharjah, thunderstorms accompanied by hail were observed. Video recordings showed a group of men responding positively to the sudden weather change, smiling and laughing as hailstones fell around them, turning the storm into a jovial moment.
Additional footage from the Storm Centre depicted heavy rain sweeping across parts of Sharjah. Thick, dark clouds covered the sky, and a continuous curtain of rain drenched roads and nearby areas. The storm transformed the streets, leaving the landscape soaked as it passed through the region.
