One of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc)'s vessels was struck by a missile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz in the early hours of August 8, according to Adnoc. The company reported no injuries and stated that the situation was quickly controlled.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack, describing it as a "blatant violation" of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. The ministry accused the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps of using the Strait of Hormuz as a means of economic pressure and piracy by targeting commercial shipping.

This incident marks the 16th vessel attacked since the onset of the regional conflict. Adnoc had previously reported that these attacks have caused one fatality and injured 20 crew members. The fatality occurred on July 14 when two crude oil tankers, Al Bahyah and Mombasa B, were hit by projectiles while passing through the Strait.

Adnoc acknowledged the ongoing challenges posed by unprovoked assaults on its personnel and assets but affirmed its commitment to fulfilling customer demands. The company emphasized that it is operating in an "exceptionally challenging environment" and is implementing measures to protect its people, assets, and operations. Adnoc also called for the safeguarding of freedom of navigation and safe passage through international waterways.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Iran to halt further attacks and to fully commit to the complete and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
