Dubai Grants Three-Day Holiday for Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday to Government Staff
Dubai government employees will observe a three-day holiday for the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday on August 28, 2026.
Dubai Government employees will receive a three-day holiday to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) announced on Tuesday.
The official holiday is set for Friday, August 28, 2026, covering all Dubai Government departments, authorities, and institutions. Normal working hours will resume on Monday, August 31.
Since the regular weekend for most government employees falls on Saturday and Sunday, the addition of the Friday holiday creates an extended three-day break for eligible staff.
However, the DGHR clarified that this holiday exemption does not apply to employees who work in shifts or whose responsibilities include serving the public or managing public service facilities.
