Our popular bakery is hiring. We’ve recently expanded our services & bakery & confectionary range. We are interested in hiring a Commis Chef - to join our growing team. The ideal candidate for this role understands different icing techniques, & has an appreciation for artistic presentation. If you are detail focused & have a passion for all things dessert & patisserie focused & are looking to grow further, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
Main duties & responsibilities
As Commis Chef, you will assist the Pastry team in the preparation of all desserts, pastry items, garnishing & decoration of all cakes, canapés, cookies & confectionary as needed
Be knowledgeable with regard to the particular items relating to the pastry department and other kitchen areas, as directed.
Be responsible for the production of food within your designated section.
Ensure that pastry & food preparation is of the highest standard at all times.
Ensure that portion control is maintained in accordance with company guidelines.
Work with other Pastry Chefs to ensure consistent recipe execution and presentation of menu items
Developing creative baked goods & confectionary range with CDP & Head Chef
Ensure designated kitchen areas, equipment & utensils are always kept clean & tidy to the HACCP & company standards required
Cooperate with Pastry Sous Chef and communicate any issues, problems or complaints to supervisors.
Requirement:
Entry requirements
We are looking for an applicant who thrives under pressure, is outgoing, flexible, well organized, & has excellent attention to detail
Shows drive & passion for baking, chocolate and/or patisserie
A strong and natural ability to work independently and as a member of a team is essential.
You will have a proven background in pastry within fine dining restaurants where quality plays an important role.
A sound knowledge of baking, pastry, but with a priority focus on confectionary, decorations, understanding icing & experience with chocolate would be beneficial for this role.
Catering School qualifications preferred
Flexibility is required to be involved in different sections and take a pro-active approach in developing your knowledge in all areas. Please note this is a 24 hour kitchen operation.
